Your Questions About Will Preparation Online

David asks…

is ashford university accredited in illinois?

I am considering the Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education degree from Ashford University. I want to know if this school will qualify for Illinois state-approved teacher preparation program. It is not listed on the ISBE.net directory, but is that because the school is online and its located in Iowa?

MonroyPro answers:

The reason why it is not listed on the ISBE directory is probably because of the fact that it is totally online, and the board of education does not consider “online” schools legitimate. In this thought, they are joined by many colleges and employers. While a few legitimate schools offer individual courses “online,” there are still a lot of “fly by night” scam artists who offer a complete degree “online” to the unwary. They’ll gladly take your money, but the “degree” you get will be worthless. Your best bet is to earn your degree at a legitimate, brick and mortar institution with a name you recognize. The local community college is a safe bet. They, too, will offer an associate’s degree, they’re fully accredited, they’re recognized by the state board of education, and you will never have to worry about whether your credential will have value. Some of their courses may be available online (individual courses, not the entire degree). They may have flexible class scheduling which will work around your other obligations. If you are going to put in the time, effort, and money toward getting a degree, it is probably better to be sure it will be worth it.

Nancy asks…

High school basketball preparation.?

Hello, I am about to be a sophomore in high school and I love basketball!!! I wasn’t able to play as a freshman because, i switched to online school in the middle of the year. However, I have played basketball all my life and have played for leagues like Gold Crown and such. I want to condition myself over the summer and prepare. So, can you please give me some good drills and advice on how to make varsity??? The best answers will be awarded points.

MonroyPro answers:

Your case is different. You have the chance to play. Many people don’t have that chance. You should be glad. Anyway. You should look for a summer camp for basketball around your area. You should navigate the web and check.

I hope that help a little. Good luck

Paul asks…

GMAT Preparation and test…?

I am very much interested in going for higher studies especially towards management; since a few weeks I am getting a thought to prepare for GMAT.
I tried to google the to get the information, however if someone can give me the below information that will be very helpful.
1) Approximately how long will it takes to prepare for exam? (one day X number of hours)
2) How many tests are there?
3) Which books do you refer? Which would be good to start with?
4) Do you recommend to prepare being in job?
5) I would like to prepare on my own (if required I am ready to join some online training/tests) without joining any institute.

MonroyPro answers:

1. This depends in part on how many weeks/months you have to prepare. 2 hours a day is good if you have several months, but if you have a month or less you’re looking at 4-6 hours a day.

2. Do you mean practice tests or actual GMAT tests? Everyone gets a different GMAT because of the computer testing format.

3. First, go get all three GMAT Official Guides. There is the general one (12th edition), and then the smaller ones for quantitative and verbal. They each have different questions, and you need to get as many different questions as possible. All the questions in each book come from actual, former tests.

Next, buy some study guides. Powerscore has books on sentence correction and critical reasoning that really helped me. I like the Manhattan GMAT books, but they are a bit short at times, and not necessarily written in the easiest way for self-study. Here’s how I’d break it down in terms of what to get:

Verbal: The Powerscore GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible and GMAT Verbal Reasoning Bibles that cover these topics

Math: Manhattan GMAT guides for these subjects

4. Most people are working a regular job while they prepare, so they can pay rent, food, etc.

5. Buy the books above and you can prepare on your own without joining an institute. No one can force you take join an institute unless you want to.

Charles asks…

how to get good at quiz bowl?

what are the best books i can read in preparation – that will cover a lot of facts that usually show up ?

which online resources do i go too??

should i cram as much info as i can ?

MonroyPro answers:

Before you buy the books – check out your library – there are lots of books on trivia and facts –

they have decks of cards with trivia questions – have someone read you the questions – when you have the correct answer remove the card – keep answering until you have them all correct -

know any friends with trivial pursuit games – borrow their question cards – keep them straight for return to the correct person – they have multiple games – on very specific topics.

What are your weaknesses – don’t bother with what you know – go for what you have to learn

good luck – trivia is a fun past time – I love when questions are on sugar packets, or place mats in restaurants. Have fun – it’s a game.

Mandy asks…

Ok, Jackson Hewitt has thrown me a loop?

Okay, this is in regards to form 8839, the adoption tax credit.

I know the form is not available until January 24.

I have read on IRS.gov that this is an e-filed form this year, but all of the online preparation says NO.

Jackson Hewitt, whom I’ve had my taxes done with since 2008, says that it CAN be e-filed but I will have to submit paperwork to the IRS.

This contradicts what every other prep service says (I’ve done mockups through Tax Act, Tax Slayer, etc).

I printed off Tax Act’s return and it didn’t print out the form 8839. I assume this is because it’s not ready.

But, I just need to know, does ANYONE know whether this return will have to be paper filed, or can it be e-filed and I just send proof that my children are adopted and not biological kids that I’m lying about being adopted for the credit?

See, the credit is now a refundable credit, so I’m sure they’re going to want proof before paying such a large return, but I just need to know the most expedient way to proceed.

Thanks!

MonroyPro answers:

Per IRS website:
To claim the credit for 2010, attach both Form 8839 and the required adoption-related documentation to your federal tax return. You cannot file a tax return with the adoption credit electronically. You must file a paper tax return because you need to attach the supporting documents

You must mail the tax return in with appropriate attachments

good luck!

Your Questions About Living Will Movie

Sharon asks…

Will Windows Movie Maker 2011 still let me work on an old project?

So i’m already making a movie on Windows Live Movie Maker on a Windows 7 Laptop.
If i download Windows Live Movie Maker 2011, will i still be able to work on the same video in the 2011 version? Thanks :)

MonroyPro answers:

Yes, version 2011 will open projects made with WLMM version 2010. There might be a problem re-opening the 2011 edited project in 2010 again because, at least for earlier versions of Movie Maker, there is no backward compatibility.

Nancy asks…

What is a movie that will scare anyone?

I don’t get scared easily , so i just wanted to know if you have a movie that will scare the living daylights out of anyone!

MonroyPro answers:

1.) the exorcist
2.) the unborn
3.) sixth sense

Mandy asks…

How will people go on living when there is no new Harry Potter book or movie to look forward to?

MonroyPro answers:

I dunno, I think I’ll go run my car off a bridge.

But, in all seriousness, as JK Rowling said, ‘Hogwarts will always be here to welcome you home.’

Mary asks…

Windows Live Movie Maker will not complete burning DVD…?

I am burning a movie file to a DVD from my windows live movie maker. I already saved it as a movie file, (not a project), and it will “burn” to 81.3% and then stop. A window comes up saying there was an error and that I should try another DVD. I have done this three times, and it has not worked. The DVDs that I have tried burning are all brand new out of the package. What can I do to fix this? Thank you!

MonroyPro answers:

Check the error log, if one is being created, it should give you a better idea of what’s happening. If you’re getting this error at 82.3% each time, then it sounds like there may be a corruption in the video. If it’s at different times it could be a problem with the drive. Try running a lens cleaning disc in your burner. If you do a lot of burning the lens tends to have a buildup. The write-speed should be set at 4X, higher speed can cause errors. Another possibility is a program running that is interfering with the process.

Ruth asks…

Do you think the Twilight movie will live up to its expectations?

Or just flop and completely miss out important parts like HP’s movies did???

And is anyone else as excited as i am about the movie and the books coming out! I couldnt get anymore excited if i did…i would explode!!

MonroyPro answers:

It would be 100 times better than the expectations! OMG you have to see some of the MTV videos , and hear Rob’s sexy American accent, seriously, you’ll be hyperventilating!
I don’t think it would be missing out a lot, some scenes like the alley scene are gone, but I still think it would be awesome.
Also, can’t wait for the 4th book! Or for Edwards POV one!

Your Questions About Simple Will Format

Ruth asks…

Free program that I can use to convert MP3 files TO C-D format?

OK, so a little while my MP3 player broke, and now I’m down to an old disc walkman and a C-D boom box until I get another one.
SO, and free, simple programs that will let me put all of my MP3 files onto my C-D?

Thanks guys.

MonroyPro answers:

You can use Windows Media Player 11 to burn an audio CD containing any mix of songs you want from your MP3 files.

James asks…

How come my questions keep getting deleted as?

They supposedly ‘violate the Q&A format‘?
I can ask something that CLEARLY falls into the Q&A format guidelines, and it will get deleted eventually. I email support with a logical objection, and they say “Sorry, not happening” pretty much.

Watch, this simple question will get deleted next. I don’t understand- Kind of getting irritating.

Any ideas??

Sandra asks…

How do I record my voice onto a CD that will play in a STEREOS CD player?

I have windows XP, and a Cd burner. I do NOT want to record in MP3 format. I just want a simple and uncomplexed CD that can be stuck in a home CD player.
I don’t want to pay for the software.
I have looked on the web and they talka lot about wav files (whatever they are), but I would also like to know what sort of file a conventional CD is.
Please keep your answers as jargon free as possible. Thank you so much.

MonroyPro answers:

.WAV = wave file, format = sound file from “way back when”
status = plays on most every PC on earth…
Cons = huge, even a small, 2.5 min. Song is many MB’s
****************************************************************
.CDA = CD audio, format = your ‘everyday’ $22.00 CD
status = worldwide distibution… Also! PC compatible
cons = only 16-20 songs per CD, depends on bitrate/(quality)
****************************************************************
.MP3 = compressed audio, format = PC, portable MP3 players, car & home stereo see this link at Wikipedia for more details –> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3
status = more or less a PC file type… No PC=no mp3
cons = its compressed, so you loose some of the ‘fidelity’ and ‘ambience’ of the music… Unless you aquire ‘high bitrate’ files
****************************************************************
thats just the tip of the iceberg
its all pretty complicated because there’s hundreds of programs that handle hundreds of audio-file-types
and new file types are popping up every day (almost)

If you wanna record voice to file type “X” and then burn it to CD your gonna need whats called a “real time audio recorder” for your PC

tell the recorder software what file type you want
then you “microphone” into an audio file (that you ‘save’)
then you burn the saved file(s) to disk
easy

the hard parts gonna’ be finding an audio recorder thats good enough for your needs

Michael asks…

Why is the use of lactobacullis not the ideal test for the antibiotic discs?

Please be explaining this theory ina simple format, as I am only a 13 year old.

What are lactobacullis discs?
Try to explain in as much detail as you can.
Links will be appreiciated.
Please give me the answer and the theory behind it.
A satisfactory answer will receive 10 points INSTANTLY!

MonroyPro answers:

Lactobacullis bacteria helps with digestion. Since they’re beneficial to the body, they don’t serve well in antibiotic discs.
If that wasn’t your idea, then lactobacullis is just not good enough to defend the body from outside invaders.

Your Questions About Writing A Will In New Jersey

Steven asks…

How is the New Jersey Written Permit test?

Well since I didnt take drivers ed in my school, im going tomorrow with a licensed instructor from a school to take the test. To be honest, I havent studied vigorously but I have at least 65% of the chapters memorized. Im worried that tomorrow I will fail, is it true that the test at the DMV is easier than the ones people take at school? Is there anything in particular that I should study?? I need as many hints and tips as possible!!

P.S- Is is written, or on the computer, if u can, please explain the process of what I have to do when I get there.

MonroyPro answers:

Took mine and yyou reely need to know the miles per hour (highway residential and parkway) also know the limitations like how many people and times and then alos know the feet of stopping, drinkning ages, and especially the penalties if you were to do somehting wrong they give you the same book as in school so study the things i mention and the info that follows**** most of the material is reel common sense i was surprised****

Michael asks…

Will I have to retake the DMV written test?

So I live in New Jersey. I took my DMV written test about a year ago, and passed it. But I never went back for an eye test, and, well, it’s a year later. Will I have to take the written test again?

MonroyPro answers:

The written test is good for two years. Assuming all of your information is still in the computer system by the DMV, you should be able to take the eye exam, and upon passing, you will have to wait (for your road test) the 6 or 3 month waiting period, depending on your age. Don’t forget to bring your permit, and all identification. Best of luck!

Linda asks…

Renewing driver license in New Jersey?

My husband is in the military and we just got back from Japan after 4 years of being out there. My California license is going to expire in October of this year. We now are stationed in New Jersey. I wanted to know if I need to take a written test for a Jersey license. I had to take a written test for California so do the same policies apply for here. I looked online and saw that New Jersey does not have DMV’s, they are called something else. I also read that all you need to do for Jersey is bring in money for a fee and documents. Will that apply for me since I am a out of state driver?

MonroyPro answers:

If you have a current out of state license, they don’t make you take the written or road test again. See the web page below for details.

Betty asks…

Is a driving Learner Permit given by New York valid in New Jersey?

I am now living in New York and trying to get a driving license. I already passed the written test, and I plan to come to my uncle’s house, which is in New Jersey, to practice driving under his guidance every weekend.

I wonder: Is this allowed? If a Learner Permit given by New York only allows you to practice in New York, my plan will fail.

Thanks!
If this plan is not possible, how about have my uncle drive to NY every weekend and teach me in NY?
Or even more can I get a learner permit from NJ? Even though my permant address is in NY now.

Your Questions About Creating A Will Or Trust

Robert asks…

Is God undeserving of our adoration and trust?

If God has been unable to create a heaven without war in the past, and by His own admission there will be wars in heaven in the future, why should we trust that He will ever be able to create a heaven without war? Why should we believe that He will be able to do, in the future, what He has been unable to do in the past. Forever is a very, very, long time, and peace is something God seems unable to create.

Theologians contend that mankind will never be able to create a world without war, but so far, God has been unable to accomplish this feat either, and he has had far more time to work at it than mankind has had. God has been no more successful than man. So why should we adore and respect a God who has been unable to create either a heaven or an earth without war?

I say that before God judges us, He should give us the chance to thrive on our own, we deserve that much. If you want my respect, adoration, and trust, let me fail, just as You have failed. Then, if we perish, so be it
I definitely respect the atheistic view that it’s a moot point, since God doesn’t exist in the first place. But simply as an intellectual exercise, does the Jewish/Christian/Muslim God described in their own scriptures desrve our respect, trust or adoration.

As for any other religions, please give some reason why your God is deserving of these things, and I don’t think that simply creating mankind, is a good enough reason.

Any other views are welcome as well.

Yes, this is the second time I’ve asked this question, but questions disappear very quickly on this forum, and I would like more answers to this question.
I am surprised at the lack of any real replies in God’s defense. I asked this question again because the same thing happened the first time I asked this question. No one came to God’s defense with more than a token pat answer.

I must therefore assume that even Jews,Christians and Muslims find God’s actions and promises indefensible.

Thank you, that is what I had thought.
Sometimes, no answer, is an answer.
Genghis, as I said, forever is a very, very, long time. Now I assume that those who make it to heaven will still have free will. You may argue that they will NEVER rebel against God, but neither precedence nor time is on your side. Simply because heaven will be populated by those who worship and believe in God, and have been purified through His grace, does nothing to prevent war. History is filled with the wars of righteous men. But that really doesn’t matter. What matters is, God’s own admission that He has as yet, been unable to create a heaven without war. I can only assume that either God chooses not to do so, or He can’t do so. Either way, it doesn’t speak very well for God.
Yahweh_is_the_Lord, I appreciate the effort that you put into your answer. But it was somewhat disappointing. First, I fail to see what the Dead Sea Scrolls have to do with proving the veracity of the bible. In any case, I did not question the bible’s authenticity. I questioned its depiction of God as being worthy of our adoration, since He has been unable to create a heaven without war. The very book that you defend, incriminates God. I will gladly accept that your argument is true, if you will accept that mine is also.
You are correct, there is much that man does not know. We cannot prove that God doesn’t exist. But you can’t prove a negative, so you’re argument is pointless. I can’t prove that Santa Claus doesn’t exist either. But without evidence to the contrary, I will assume that neither God nor Santa Claus are any more than mere myth. Proving God’s existence may be difficult for men, but it should be a piece of cake for God. Alas, no such proof has been forthcoming. Contrary to what you may personally believe.

MonroyPro answers:

The God the fundamentalists worship, no He is not . The God many others worship, yes he is. We can not hold God responsible for mans decisions and actions. This is not what God wanted, but being an all loving God, he let us make our own choices and then learn from those choices.

David asks…

Christians, trust me, this will have you so cornered?

Christians claim that God is loving & omnipotent.

An omnipotent God would know all of the past, present and future.
Meaning that God knew that by creating Adam countless souls would be tormented for ETERNITY after judgment day. That makes God rather cruel and sadistic.

Of course, Christians would say that God does not decide for anyone to choose the path to hell even if He knows what they are going to choose. In other words, God’s future visions are subjective. So if we change our minds, God’s vision changes.
In that case God can NOT truly see the future and is NOT omnipotent.

Now is God either sadistic & omnipotent OR loving & not omnipotent?

Either way, it contradicts your belief thus having you cornered. Thank you.

MonroyPro answers:

Haha…thats wat you thing

the bible states that he does know the past present and future
now…hell was originally for the devil and the fallin angels
so…when adam sinned time was instituted because before that he would live for eternity
so there was nothing to know because there was no end when adam was created so he didnt plan to send part of humanity to hell

also…

God does not decide..but he knows your decisions even if you decide to change them he already knew
so they are not subjective because he knows the end result of your thought and where they will lead you

……….thought u had us huh??
You thought wrong…….

Sharon asks…

What are you refelctions on reading this text?

Only when we trust our intuition can we be creative and find a sense of meaning in this miserable world, but no way of life is more haunted by pitfalls into the abyss of hopelessness. When you’ve touched the specimen stones of universal insight, you experience a moment of gratification not comparable with any stimulus found in the material world. But as the devils watchdogs keeps pulling your leg, sooner or later you’ll loose balance and land harder than anyone who thinks moderation expresses some sort of life wisdom.
In the quest for truth there can be no moderation. The reason for this is that if every clear thought, every principle, every logical argumentation, is to be modified by common sense, then what we end up with is mental stagnation. And to me, mental stagnation equals death. Common sense is a mixture of sense and prejudice in an indistinguishable stew of unclear, often contradictory set of thoughts. It might teach you how to survive in this world, but I prefer to be on the brink of the precipice rather than to adapt to something so incompatible with honest reflection.
To genuinely believe in and live by the philosophy that acquiring truth is the main purpose of life, will inevitably create an insurmountable void between yourself an most other people. You simply cannot accept and keep the set of norms and moral standards partly imposed on you in childhood, so you decide to base your way of life on your own reasoning. This makes it possible for you to see things clearly where others are blinded by their habit thinking.

MonroyPro answers:

Karl, i know what you mean. I live the kind of life you are talking about. The alienation drives me mad, but i cannot ignore the truth.

Installing Windows 98 on Virtual Pc 2004?

Im trying to install windows 98 in Virtual Pc 2004 but the instructions i was given end up good until this part:

# Now comes the really fun part, and your trust factor has to be high for this :-)
At the A:> prompt, enter: format c:
(the virtual 16MB primary DOS partition you just created will be formatted in FAT32 format)
# After that, just hit Enter to accept a blank volume label. Now we’re ready to install Windows 98 to the virtual machine you have created. Don’t worry that you only allocated and formatted a 16MB primary DOS partition. The virtual machine hard disk you created is *expandable*, and will take anything you can subsequently throw at it :-)

When I enter format c in the command prompt it asks me if im sure because it will wipe out everything in C. O_o Is that true or am i doing it wrong?

MonroyPro answers:

Scary, isn’t it? I always do a

at that point. If you are in the wrong place, there will be a considerable list. If the list is empty, go for the install.

Steven asks…

How do I make sure my daughter is taken care of?

I have a 2 year old daughter and lately I’ve been feeling like I really need to get everything in order for her in case anything happens to my husband and me. I am in the process of creating wills for both my husband and myself naming each other as the beneficiaries and leaving everything in a trust for her if we both die, as well as to nominate a guardian for her. I’ve created a 529 plan for her college, and a savings account for her to use for her wedding, additional money for college, or whatever she wants to use it for. I took out a whole life insurance policy on her, and term life policies on my husband and myself. Am I missing anything? Is there anything else I could do to make sure she is completely taken care of if anything happens to us?

MonroyPro answers:

When you create the wills, you will need to name a guardian for any minor children, an executor to carry out the terms of the will, and a guardian to take care of any assets in your will until they legally pass to your daughter. You will need to discuss these roles with the people you name beforehand.

I would also add a document to go to each of these people, telling them how you want them to perform their roles. For example, you may want the custodian to pay for necessary educational and living expenses while your daughter is in college, but withhold the bulk of the estate until either she earns a Bachelor’s degree or turns 30, for example. (That gives her an incentive to go to college). Or you may want the guardian to be sure your daughter goes to your alma mater, or encourages her to join Girl Scouts, for example.

I would be careful about creating a savings account that automatically is available to the kid at age 18. I’ve seen that sort of thing happen, where the parents intended the money to be used for college. The kid got a zippy sports car instead, and ran it into the ground. You may want to put the money into your estate, and leave instructions on how it should be spent in the will.

Think carefully about how you would want your daughter to spend the money, and write this down as a starting point for your lawyer to draw up the wills. It’s probably not good to get TOO detailed, since it may be 15 years from now when someone tries to follow your instructions. But it’s OK to have some concrete guidelines. Your lawyer should be able to help you with this.

Your Questions About Sample Will Forms

Sandra asks…

Why does some stuff take so long to arrive?

I have filled out forms for samples and they tell me that they will take 8-12 weeks! Why in the world does it take so long? I could go and pick it up anywhere in the world faster than that! Then don’t you hate it when you order like a cologne sample and they send you a piece of paper? It’s almost like an IOU lol

Hello i am Sam and i will like to know a little about audio file transcription.?

I will also like to know some of the basic samples to follow for examples website that can give me inside about a 60min audio file transcription.

And does it mean that the file should be in a writing form and what are some of the basic rules involve in writing the transcription.

MonroyPro answers:

Transcription is the keyboarding (into a typewriter or computer) of reports from dictation recorded by someone else. Dictation is performed in a number of ways, including audiocassette, phone-in recording to an analog system, or recording into a digital system that enables one to send a sound file just as one would send any other type of computer file.

Find moles. Using molar mass:
75 g – 8.4 = 67 g oxygen @ 16 g/mol = 4.2 mol oxygen
8.4 g Hydrogen @ 1 g.mol = 8.4 mol hydrogen

divide by the smaller to ratio the moles:
4.2 mol Oxygen / 4.2 = 1 mole Oxygen
8.4 mol Hydrogen / 4.2 = 2 mol hydrogen
your answer is
subaance “X” is water, H2O
======================================…

A.Substance W is a binary compound of carbon and an alkaline earth metal.
B. Substance W is 37.5% carbon by mass.

The binary compounds of carbon and an alkaline earth metal, are made with the carbide ion (C2)-2
and alkaline earth metal ions that are +2.,…
Giving formulas that are MC2

find molesof carbide, using molar mass:
37.5 g of carbide @ 24.02 g/mol = 1.56 moles of carbide , (C2)-2

this means that the remaining grams 62.5 has also 1.56 moles of M+2 ions
find molar mass of the M+2:
62.5 g / 1.56 moles = 40.06 g/mol
that’s Calcium

your answer
compound W is Calcium carbide, CaC2
======================================…

C. 100 million trillion formula units of substance W weighs 10.65 mg.
That’s 1.00 e20 formula units

divided by avagadro’s number:
1.00 e20 units @ 6.02 e23 units / mole = 1.66 e-4 moles

find molar mass of “W” :
10.65 mg @ 1 gram / 1000 mg @ / 1.66 e-4 moles = 64.2 g/mole

which matches the molar mass of CaC2 of 64.1 g/mol
======================================…

D.Substance W reacts with substance X to form substances Y and Z.

CaC2 & 2H2O –> Ca(OH)2 & C2H2
it makes calcium hydroxide & acetylene gas
======================================…
F.When 12.00 g of substance Y is burned in excess oxygen gas, 40.56 g carbon dioxide and 8.30 g of water are produced. (HINT: recall the Law of Conservation of Mass)

1 mole of CO2 has 1 mole of carbon….
Find moles of carbon in the mass of CO2 using molar mass of CO2:
40.56 g CO2 @ 1 mole Carbon / 44.01 g CO2 = 0.92 mol Carbon

1 mole of H2O has 2 moles of hydrogen…
Find the moles of hydrogen in the 8.3 g of water, using the molar mass of water:
8.3 g H2O @ 2 mole Hydrogen / 18.01 g H2O = 0.92 moles of hydrogen

your empirical formula for the hydrocarbon “Y” is CH

that would be the empirical formula of acetylene , C2H2
that’s compound “Y”
======================================…

G.Substance Z is the hydroxide of the metal in substance W.
That’s Ca(OH)2 …. Compound “Z”
======================================…

From the information below, calculate the mass of substance Y that will be formed if 35.0 g of substance W reacts with 14.5 g of substance X.

Find moles:
35.0 g CaC2 @ 64.1 g/mol = 0.546 moles CaC2, “W”
14.5 g H2O @ 18.01 g/mol = 0.805 moles H2O, “X”

by the reaction:
CaC2 & 2H2O –> Ca(OH)2 & C2H2
we needed twice the number of moles of H2O , than the number of moles of CaC2
they didn’t add enough water….
CaC2 is the limiting reagent

find the moles of “Y”, C2H2 that will be produced from the CaC2, using tha balanced equation ratio of moles:
0.546 moles CaC2, “W” @ 1 mole C2H2 / 1 mol CaC2 =
0.546 moles C2H2, “Y” will be produced

using molar mass, find mass of “Y”, C2H2 :
0.546 moles C2H2 @ 26.04 g/mol =
your final answer:
14.22 grams of C2H2 will be produced

Joseph asks…

how to conduct this experiment?

Equation: Aqueous sodium phosphate + aqueous calcium nitrate –> aqueous sodium nitrate solid calcium phosphate

How can i find the amount of phosphate?

YOu will test a recovery technique of your design using a contaminated water sample with a known mass of sodium phosphate. Each group will receive a contaminated sample with a different amount of sodium phosphate. The addition of a solution of excess calcium nitrate to the sample will cause the displacement reaction to occur, and a precipitate of calcium phosphate will form. The solid calcium phosphate may then be recovered, removed from the waste water. The percentage yield of your method will be calculated and used to evaluate the success of your technique

So how to set up a lab to test it?

MonroyPro answers:

The simplest way:

the sample will very likely be given in a test tube.

You need to make sure there is sufficient room in the test tube to add enough calcium nitrate to complete the reaction (instructor should know this)

if there is not, then you need to transfer the sample to a clean beaker that has been thoroughly rinsed with distilled water. Wash out your test tube with distilled water and add to beaker to make sure you get it all (extra distilled water wont affect the result)

now on to the experiment itself:

now add your calcium nitrate (warming will speed up the experiment but will affect recovery of the precipitate)

as this is the easy part,we will now move on to the recovery of the precipitate

the solubility of of your precipitate will affect your results, so we want to create a situation where the precipitate will be very insoluble but not the sodium nitrate

if you had warm your solution you now want to cool it by sitting the beaker or test tube in a cold water bath or running cold water on it(be careful not to get tap water on the inside)

add a bit of distilled water to dilute the sodium nitrate to make sure it stay dissolved

now the important step:

what you want to do is to filter your solution leaving precipitated on the inside of the filter paper

once your solution is cool you need to filter it

items needed: a glass funnel, a stand to hold the funnel, a round filter paper,2 lengths of thick-walled rubber hose

fold the round filter paper first in half then quarter

now open it up to form a cone which should fit neatly inside the funnel.

Mount the funnel onto its stand (if there is none just use a clamp to clamp the funnel by the neck you just need to make sure it wont topple)

ask your instructor to show you the suction attachment on the tap and connect one of the hoses to it and the other end to the tip of your funnel. This will create suction speeding up the filtration process .

Rinse your container and filter that too.

Then add a bit of distilled water this will wash out any of the solution that is in the filter paper

turn off suction and carefully remove the filter paper don’t not spill any)

dry in a warming oven and then carefully transfer sample to a weighed petri-dish that’s it.

If you do well on the SAT you have a strong shot at all.

Suggest dropping Washington State as that is far too beneath you.

Also suggest substituting College of the Holy Cross for Boston College. Holy Cross’ academic rating is a 98 by the Princeton Review and BC’s is an unimpressive 87. You can verify this for yourself at http://www.princetonreview.com.Both are Jesuit colleges in the greater Boston metro area.

Helen asks…

How is my mock draft, rate it..HELP ME WIN A PS3?

1. Los Angeles Clippers – Blake Griffin – duh

2. Mempis Grizzlies – Hasheem Thabeet – he’s 7’3, can run like someone who is 6’10, and is more dedicated to defense than anyone. Memphis needs defense, they already have enough offense.

3. Oklahoma City – James Harden – They already have a PG, they can use a SG.

4. Sacramento Kings – Ricky Rubio – He would fit well with Sac’s fast pace game, that is missing a good PG, he’s alot like J-Kidd

5. Washington Wizards – Jordan Hill…they already have all-star calliber players at PG, SF, and PF…they have a young talent in Nick Young at SG, so they should trade this pick..but since there are no Good enough Centers, they should go with a talented PF in Hill

6. Minnesota Timberwolves – Stephon Curry – They need a scoring perimeter player, Curry led the Nation in scoring with 28 PPG

7. Golden State Warriors – Brandon Jennings – They run a fast pace game…Jennings is by far the most athletic PG in this draft, he is also a good passer, and a willing one.

8. New York Knicks – Tyreke Evans – New York can use a 2 gaurd that can run, pass, and score.

9. Toronto Raptors – DeMar DeRozan – They need a scoring perimeter player, Demar can possibly be a Vince Carter, he won the high school slam dunk contest, has a 40+ vertical jump and masters the mid range game.

10. Milwaulkee Bucks – Johnny Flynn

11. New Jersey Nets – Earl Clark – He is alot like Lamar Odom, i can see him playing PF later in his career. His speed will make up for Lopez’s lack of it.

12. Charlotte Bobcats – Gerald Henderson – They need a scorer at SG

13. Indiana Pacers – DeJuan Blair – Undersized but aggressive, alot like Paul Milsap, probably the 3rd best rebounder in the draft.

14. Phoenix Suns – James Johnson

15. Detroit Pistons – Jrue Holliday

16. Chicago Bulls – BJ Mullens

17. Philadelphia 76ers – Wayne Ellington – He is from Pennsylvania and is the shooter they need

18. Minnesota Timberwolves – Jeff Teague

19. Atlanta Hawks – Eric Maynor

20. Utah Jazz – Chase Budinger

21. New Orleans Hornets – Terrance Williams

22. Dallas Mavericks – Ty Lawson

23. Sacramento Kings – Tyler Hansbrough

24. Portland Trail Blazers – Omri Casspri

25. Oklahoma City – Derrick Brown

26. Chicago Bulls – Tai Gibson

27. Memphis – Daren Collison

28. Minnesota Timberwolves – Sam Young

29. Los Angeles Lakers – Austin Daye

30. Cleveland Cavaliers – DaJuan Summers

MonroyPro answers:

9 and 2 thirds out of 10
(96/100)

Problems:

8. 9. New York would much rather have a DeMar DeRozan than a Tyreke Evans. They need a lot better shooting, too. Also, Evans is the only player in my Top 10 that doesn’t have as much potential and people think he does. He is a Freshman sensation, right? But he’s only been in 1 season of major games, which was in the C-USA, one of the weakest Conferences, and his team only made it to the Sweet Sixteen. People may say he is another Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose played the floor much better with his Memphis players. Rose also led his team to the National Championship, which Tyreke Evans was nowhere near to going. In my opinion, DeMar DeRozan is a much better player, and a much better fit in New York than Tyreke Evans.

What happens when you tell everyone you want to be the greatest player that ever lived? Roy Hobbs, the protagonist of The Natural, makes the mistake of pronouncing aloud his dream: to be the best there ever was. Such hubris, of course, invites divine intervention, but the brilliance of Bernard Malamud’s novel is the second chance it offers its hero, elevating him–and his story–into the realm of myth.
·McCarthy, Cormac, Crossing,
Sixteen-year-old Billy Parham is obsessed with trapping a renegade wolf that has crossed the border from Mexico to raid his father’s cattle ranch. By the time he finally succeeds, Billy has formed such a close bond with his prey that he decides to return the wolf to its home, and the two head off into the mountains. Billy returns months later to find that his parents have been murdered by horse thieves. He abducts his kid brother from a foster home, and they ride into Mexico to retrieve their property, encountering gypsies, desperadoes, and itinerant philosophers along the way. Your Questions About Last Wills And Testaments

Daniel asks…

Which is the best site for last will and testament center?

MonroyPro answers:

The free last will and testament forms are helpful for those who do not have huge estates or many beneficiaries. These forms can be easily modified according to specific requirements. It is possible to download these forms from the Internet, from websites that specialize on wills. It enables people to write wills without hiring a lawyer and can also help avoid buying an expensive pre-made testament document. Many people are using pre-made forms to create wills as they save time, legal costs and avoid having to deal with complicated legal jargon that may complicate future beneficiaries.

Chris asks…

how can i locate a last will and testament for a deceased uncle?

MonroyPro answers:

Probate is the legal process of settling the estate of a deceased person. Usually, their will is filed and “sent to probate” in the circuit court for the county where the death occurred. Search for “circuit court probate” and add in the county and state where the death occurred. You should get the county’s official website and instructions on how to get a copy of the will and probate file.

Joseph asks…

I want to know if anyone has used one of the “do it yourself” last will and testament kits that you can buy.

I would like to know if they are valid and which one I should look into getting.

MonroyPro answers:

For a “simple will” they would be okay. You can get the forms at any Office Supply store. The only thing you need to do to make them legal is have two witnesses present when it is notarized. Get it Probated at the courthouse. Many people don’t do this and 25% ends up going to the government. If you have lots of property and lots of beneficiaries, hire an attorney to make sure your wishes are all covered. There ARE loopholes that the kits don’t tell you about and things can differ from State to State.

Lisa asks…

Is it a bad idea to name two people as coexecutors of a last will and testament?

MonroyPro answers:

No, just add a statement as to what should happen should they not be in agreement to an issue not addressed in your will. Like the courts can make a determination as to the disposition of the asset if no agreement is made between the executors

Susan asks…

Can’t find last will & testament, possibly written by disbarred lawyer, what do we do?

We live in Texas and our close aunt died a few weeks ago. Me and my 2 sisters and our children were her only family. We’ve been trying to find her will for a while now and have not been successful. We’ve contacted every single lawyer in her contacts book. None have a record of her will, we’ve gone to the courthouse and nothing is there either. There is one lawyer in her book which we found out has been disbarred. I suspect he might have been the one to have written it. But can not get a hold of him. What would we do in this case?

MonroyPro answers:

G’day Timmy21g,

Thank you for your question.

I would speak to a lawyer together with your relatives and discuss having it handled through the probate court given that there probably isn’t a will.

A swift acknowledgment of the receipt of this email will be appreciated.

Warmest Regards.
I contacted them through my local job finder website and it was a basic ad looking for a housekeeper, I emailed the listed email address my resume and when I received a response it was in my bulk which I found odd. Another red flag perhaps?

MonroyPro answers:

100% scam.

There is no job. There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “secretary/assistant/accountant” and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the “money” via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the “supply company” while you “keep” a small portion. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank’s money you sent to an overseas criminal.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

6 “Rules to follow” to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed ‘red flags’ and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google “fake check cashing job”, “fraud Western Union scam”, “money mule moneygram scam” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

YES, the fact that the response ended up in your bulk file is a HUGE red flag!

Donna asks…

What are my employment prospects?

I am a 35 year old who has gone back to complete a degree — ANY degree — the swiftest being a Bachelor’s in Science Education (BSE) in “Health Science” (Think Pre-med without the more intensive MCAT preparations or secondary organic chem requirements).

? As a 35 year old who will graduate with said degree within 6 months, and as a 35 year old with experience in sales (health insurance), elementary ‘old school’ web design (notepad HTML and WYSIWYG editors, Photoshop & Illustrator; experience in management/marketing for a profitable retail venue; experience in public speaking, fund-raising, product development / marketing / trending; specific training for retail systems (I live just under the shadow of Wal-Mart Corporate Offices Bentonville, AR., so naturally we are all very immersed in both Wally World Vendors and the proprietary software they use; Oh, and I ran for public office (state Rep) while President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

What Could I do after college?
Oh, and I forgot some other details:
I just received the 32nd Degree in Freemasonry;
I have enjoyed my time as a certified, practicing hypnotherapist (tough to market / FUN to build as a business!!); freelance marketer on pure commission for area chiropractors (another TOUGH sale…I am a sucker for cold calling …It makes me FIRED Up ) [ Now, if someone could teach me better closing techniques...]

Ah, yes… more:
I developed an interactive seminar series that instantly removes MUCH of cold contacting anxiety. Tested it on an area Real Estate company, and they have reported double digit comp increases over last quarter (YAY!!).

? Naturally, I’d LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Pharmaceutical sales. In fact, I took the initiave to speak to several area physicians, asking them to help me create a “better system for pharm sales work”. Still gathering info for that into a possible book.
Oh, and I have written, self-published and successfully marketed a book (ultimate tough sale, whew).

It seems to me that you have a great passion dealing with people and it sounds like you enjoyed yourself accomplished a lot of things. You sounded like me when I was still in my university. By the way I graduated Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring Accounting and Finance but guess what I have so much passion dealing with people and it makes me happy whenever I accomplished something and now I am a successful retail manager and very good at it. I am sure you will be successful if you go in to a retail business either on your own or work for a reputable retail establishment.

Your Questions About Living Will Sample

Carol asks…

If I used marijuana will i still get the job?

I’m currently applying for a Job at the TSA. They use hair, blood, and urine samples to test for drugs. I took one hit off a joint about a week ago the test is coming up anywhere from two weeks to 2 months away. They also use a polygraph test and that asks if I used drugs. I live in massachusetts where marijuana is decriminalized. Will this influence my chances in getting the job?
Billy bob thanks for the novel but I wasn’t referring to the private sector. So your argument is invalid.

MonroyPro answers:

It may be legal in your area but if I was your prospective employer you wouldn’t get passed the first hurdle. Drugs are drugs and they do have a negative effect on your performance.

Paul asks…

How big are free samples of perfume that you order online?

I just ordered a free sample of the Oscar De La Renta perfume called “Live in Love” online. And I was just wondering, how big will the sample be? Does anyone know???

MonroyPro answers:

Very small

Linda asks…

Can you fail a hair sample drug test if you are exposed to an illegal drug?

I unwillingly live with my mother and she is a habitual marijuana user. I am taking a hair drug test for a new job. I do not use drugs, so I will be particularly upset if this is something I should worry about.

MonroyPro answers:

A hair follicle drug test does not detect any substances that the hair might have absorbed from the environment.

We are around all sorts of pollutants all day (for some of us, including marijuana smoke), and your prospective employer understands that these pollutants can be absorbed by hair.

The hair follicle test will determine if you have ingested, smoked, etc. Particular substances that go from your bloodstream into your hair follicle http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/HairFollicle_mine_small1.jpg.

Good luck with your job!

Donna asks…

What rock song from the last 20 years has this sample at the start?

“Whether you’re black or white, whether you’re country redneck or a freak, young or old from Moscow to London or Memphis, Elvis Presley will still be the king of rock’n’roll”

See here live at Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion following his death…

NOTE: The song doesn’t include the words “to me” at the end (I think..!)

Thanks!

How can I deal with living with IBS?

I have Irritable Bowl Syndrome. I have had tons of blood and sample tests done and everything came back negative, so my doctor all but officially confirmed that my problems are due to IBS. I have a specialists appointment booked (he will officially confirm if I have IBS after more tests) but it isn’t until February 2009.

But for now, I have really bad symptoms a lot lately. They seem to act up and get really bad when I have something stressful or my nerves are acting up.

Now I have a job interview on Wednesday and I have been having a really bad weekend and today with dealing with symptoms. Also, my sisters wedding is on Thursday and I am signing for her, so I am nervous about standing up in front of everyone and it’s making my symptoms act up too.

I am getting married next year and I can’t imagine how sick I will feel with nerves if it’s this bad for being a bridesmaid.

How can I deal with stress and nerves giving me such bad symptoms?

MonroyPro answers:

My fiance has IBS, and his really acts up when he’s stressed, too. I know the thing that’s helped him the most is taking psyllium fiber supplements (like Metamucil) every day. As far as stress relief goes…have you ever tried yoga? According to an article my fiance wrote, it’s recommended for people with IBS. Take a look at the article, if you want: http://www.getridofthings.com/get-rid-of-ibs.htm
