Is there a statute of limitations on contesting a will in New York State?

do i take the money or carry on going with the will contesting and get myself a solicitor?

my father died in 2009 and left all his money to his niece even though he had 6 children .He was diagnose with dementia in 2004 his will was written in 2007 placed a caveat on the will and have since received a letter from his solicitor offering us 6 thousand from the 12 thousand he left which means his niece gets the other 6 thousand , do i carry on with contesting and get a solicitor or take the money

In a percentage-lost based weight loss contest, will fat people have an advantage?

The contest is a month long. If I am just out of shape and could stand to lose a few pounds, will people who are overweight have an easier time losing a larger percentage of their weight?

Do you think much legal trouble could be saved if a person’s change of Will in the last 12mths is disregarded?

I see many contested Wills, and many of these involve a Will being changed right at the end of a person’s life.

I think we may not have the mental capacity at such a tragic time, and that if we die within 12 mths of a change it should be disregarded by the lawyers.

Can a power of attorney make a living will for the person they represent?

My great grandmother’s very ill now and my grandmother thinks it’s time she made a living will. Problem is, my great grandmother has Alzheimer’s but my grandmother is her legal power of attorney. She wanted to know if she could legally write my g.grandma’s will for her or if there needs to be a lawyer present or anything.

Can a power of attorney override a living will?

My great aunt is STILL living but is in a nursing home. In her will she left her entire estate (home) to my sisters and I.

Family members have now come in and taken over and SOLD her house while she is alive. We highly believe they sold it to another family member and they are gonna use it as a rent home. I believe they have gotten a power of attorney over her.

my boyfriend and I have been dating for 7 months, I’m 18 and he is 15 (turning 16) this is my first year in college and he is still in high school, but we met in HS… we’ve kept it a secret for the past 3 months because of problems occurring with his mother. (she’s borderline nuts) anyway, I used to write him notes and gave them to a friend to pass on to him and only he was supposed to read the notes. He kept them hidden in his school backpack. Yesterday she ended up snooping around in his backpack and took the notes and read them. I do not remember what I wrote in any of them, only a few things such as he should open a bank account and that I hoped his mother got into a car accident, or I hoped something horrible would happen to her… I never mentioned anything about me making sure she got hurt, just that I wished and hoped these things upon her. She called my mother last night screaming and harassing her saying she showed the notes to a lawyer.
I do not know what is going to happen. My parents feel that whatever I wrote will make me wind up in jail. I’m not sure at all and I’m completely scared. If i have to go to court, I will, but then again my boyfriend said he would testify against her completely because she has threatened to kill him before. Really interested in University of Florida…will that work out for me?

All right, I’m a Junior in IB, and all I really want to do is go to UF. I live in Florida and plan on continuing to get the IB diploma next year. Here are my stats:

4.3 weighted GPA
3.8 unweighted (I think, just a guess on this one)

I’m 29 out of 379 in my class, putting me in the top 10%.

All of my core classes have been Pre-IB/IB/AP. I took an AP class last year as my elective and I’m on the school newspaper team this year for my elective. The only thing I’m scared of is that I might get a C in Calc AB this year. Other than that, I’ve gotten all As and Bs, but almost all As.

I have a 4.6 GPA, and will finish high school with 7 AP classes taken in school, as well as being a certified EMT through a state program sponsored by the local community college (which counts for 8 hours of college credit..so almost 2 more AP’s technically.)

Also, I am Lieutenant Governor for North Carolina State in the YMCA based Youth and Government program, as well as VP of my school’s club chapter Junior year, and President of the club as a senior.

I started my own service club called the Mediation Advocacy Sacrifice and Service (MASS) club at my school. We’ve done service projects such as collecting over 135 coats for the homeless in Raleigh, NC as well as creating over 65 toiletry kits for the Raleigh Rescue Mission’s homeless families.

I also work around 18 hours a week at Starbucks and have been working there for over a year. I worked at Chick Fil A before that and worked there for 2 years.

Hopefully he will be writing one of my recommendations for the colleges I apply to.We study memory, cognition, and learning on rats in various studies pertaining to nicotine addiction, prenatal exposure to nicotine, drug therapies to combat addiction, etc.

I will be applying to UCLA, UVA, UNC-CH (where I am in-state), U.S. Naval Academy, UCONN, and I was thinking Duke as a reach school. I thought it would help having a recommendation from a distinguished professor when applying to Duke as I’ve heard they value it highly. What do you guys think are my chances of getting into these schools?

I was thinking of maybe adding either Emory or Cornell to my list. Suggestions on those schools or others? I would like to major in Neuroscience or a related field. Thanks!

Would yall like this playoff system?

I know its unlikely we will ever see a playoff system in NCAA football but for fun I just wanted to create a system that would be interesting out of boredom.

First of all keep the BCS standings they will be needed.

Cut down the season by 1 game.

After the champions are crowned, take the 6 champs from the major BCS conferences and have them have an automatic bid to the playoffs.
Next take 6 at large teams and have them be in the playoffs. That makes a total of 12 teams.
The top 4 teams according to their final BCS standings get a first round bye. Seed the remaining 8 teams according to their final BCS standings for example. Say Boise State finished 5th they would be seed #5 but say Utah finished 12th but did not get an at large bid but the 13th place team in the BCS did recieve and atlarge they would be the 12th seed.

Have 5vs12, 6vs11, 7vs10, and 8vs9 in bowl games such as peach emerald etc. These will rotate every year to give new cities a chance to see this round of the playoffs

The winners will play the teams that have byes according to their seeds kind of like the NFL.
Say all the favorites won it would be 1vs8 2vs 7 3vs6 and 4vs5 and these games would be played in the capitol one, cotton, rose, orange and would also rotate each year but only between cotton, capitol 1, rose, orange, fiesta, and sugar since they are the biggest ones. then have the semifinals in which ever one of the 6 bowls did not get the quarterfinals that year.

Have the final 2 play the NC in a bowl that will also be rotated.

I know it may sound confusing but I did not feel like making it any longer than it already is LOL.

How easy is self employment?

Hello, I have recently left school, I am 16 years old and I am currently seeking a modern apprenticeship, however the current economic state has mad this increasingly difficult. I do not think I will be able to get one, so I have a backup plan and I have been accepted into college so I will start in august. I have taken a course called NC DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA COMPUTING. Is it true that creditors can remove thier presence from your credit report?

I was doing some research and it appears if you can get them to, in writing, remove themselves from your report, as long as yuou pay in full or settle. Is that true and does it work? One creditor I mailed off a sample template from about.com and said basically I will settle for (some 2/3) of the debt as long as you within ten days, remove it from my credit report with each of the 3 credit agencies. Will it work? Any other advice?

Need help on how to put an equation into slope intercept form. A simple answer will work! So please help?

This is probably really easy for the rest of you, but I’m in algebra 2, and completely forgot how to put things into slope intercept form. I know how to graph a simple linear equation, but when the ‘x’ and the ‘y’ are switched, I get confused! Here is the equation:
-2x + 5y = -10
How would I put that into y-intercept?

Looking for Info/Advice on Engorgement Preparation? Help Moms?

Ok so I am almost 38 weeks pregnant with my first child (quite possibly my last but we will see).

I am trying to prepare things for when he arrives so that once he’s here we don’t have a bunch of extra stuff we still need to purchase, but I’m having trouble finding info on what exactly I need to have in the house to take care of engorged breasts. I’ve been looking online and mostly finding stuff about why I should breastfeed, not helpful info on how to deal with engorged breasts.

I do not plan on breastfeeding and I want the milk to “dry up” as quickly as possible. I have spoken with my Dr about medications to help that and he says “we will see when the time comes” meaning, he’s still hoping to convince me to breastfeed (he wont be able to convince though). Regardless though, what can I do now to make this an easier thing for me when the time comes? I’ve heard that warm washcloths help, and a good fitting bra (but how do I know what size I will need after birth?).

Are there other things that help the milk dry up faster? Any other supplies that will help me?

I haven’t been through this before so I don’t really know what its going to be like, but considering I will have a newborn I’d like to be in as little pain as possible, as quickly as possible.

SAT preparation assistance?

Just preparing to take the SAT for the second time, this year as a senior, hoping to improve my score.

I have the Princeton Review book for this year, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any particularly useful online tools or other books that you find especially effective? I would say that for the most part, I’m very adequate with what I’m doing, but I need more help with the Math than I do with the Writing/Literature parts.

Any advice at all would be helpful. Oh, and if you want to go the extra mile, I’d like some assistance with my time management in my Prep Schedule. I’m usually a huuuge procrastinator, but, as I will be going to college next year, I want to improve this, and once I find some useful tools I will need to plan a study schedule!!!
