How to defer or minimize taxes when selling a property, and NOT BUYING A NEW ONE?
My wife and I are planning to sell a house we’ve lived in for 2 years. We are not planning to buy another house in canada, but invest money in real estate outside the country.
What do we need to do in order to minimize and defer paying taxes in Canada?
Any help would be appreciated.

When selling your home or business through a real estate broker should you try to negotiate the commission?
I am selling my hair salon first then plan to sell my home as I am getting married and moving to the US from Canada. When I chose a broker and he sent me a copy of the listing agreement, he wants me to initial saying that he has exclusive rights (vs. Multiple Listing) for one year. Also, when we discussed it initially, I told him the price I wanted to start at, he verbally suggested a lower price, and has already written his price suggestion on the listing agreement which I have not yet signed. I’ve since gone on his website and see my property already listed at his price. History: I had him appraise the business about a year ago (because someone was interested in buying it and they suggested him as the appraiser and I agreed) and the potential buyer decided not to purchase at the appraised value. If I were to list at the price the realtor is suggesting, I wouldn’t get the appraised value after his commission. What should I do?

Be my own executor or use trust company?
My mother and a trust company were named co-executors of my late father’s estate. Our lawyer said we can do all the executor duties ourselves and save the 5% of the trust companies fees of the estate. Ive read a book on estate planning and it seems fairly straight forward. Just wondered if anyone has any experience in this and would offer some insights on which way to go: Be our own executor or use the Trust company.
This is in Canada by the way.

What happen if a last will & testament was made before getting married and his kids are the only beneficiaries?
Is there any legal right of the second wife of any property if she is not included in the last will and testament of husband? Last will and testament were executed way back before the husband got married the second time. The only beneficiaries are his children. What will happen to the wife? Will she gets nothing from his property of any kind? This is in Canada.
House still in mortgage but it’s solely under the name of the husband. They are living together in that house. Every time they buy furniture or fixtures it’s all under the name of the husband.
